House Extension | Glasgow
This house extension in East Kilbride consists of a single pitched volume protruding from the rear of a 1980's detached house. A simple gable elevation with large opening to the back garden contrasts with the front elevation which is comparatively highly decorated. The extension consists of an enlarged kitchen space with a dining and lounge area looking to the garden.
The single volume is cut away at as it meets the existing house to form a small courtyard to an existing patio entrance with the wider section of the extension opening to form a living and dining space. The pitched form presented an efficient option in gaining the floor space the client desired and by following the pitch with the ceiling lining an interesting composition of forms helps subtly divide the kitchen, dining and living spaces.
