Single-storey rear extension to B-Listed, converted townhouse in Glasgow's West End. The brief was to explore options for a garden room within the owners sunken garden that improved access to the patio space as well as introduced an improved connection with their existing kitchen space.
A new pitched roof has been formed that sits perpendicular to the existing building. This allows for additional rooflights to catch the morning sun while also restricting views down from the walkway above. This roof structure also creates a dramatic internal space through the pitched ceiling and changes in height. The extension is clad in natural slate with openings for large rooflights and folding patio doors out to the sunken courtyard.
