This invited competition entry focussed on a refurbishment of the entrance and public areas of an office building in Glasgow.
Our approach was based around enhancing the material quality of the current space to create a more contemporary office environment but also using these material changes to help understand and navigate through the spaces. This approach was been considered as part of a wider ‘image’ for the space and we worked with design agency, 0427, to propose a new branding.
The proposal included new brass doors to the entrance and a reformatting of a public and private entrance working with subtle but important differences between the two. Moving inside we proposed a palette of quality materials to compliment the original features working with themes of robustness, pattern and texture. A full refurbishment of the waiting areas and boardrooms was proposed with lighting and furniture ranges selected to enhance the architectural qualities of the old and new features
